Press Release: Intermountain Healthcare Purchases Property in Ephraim, Utah.
Ephraim City is so pleased that Intermountain Healthcare (Intermountain) has purchased property on the South end of Ephraim City. We believe that a future hospital will be a tremendous advantage for Ephraim residents and students at Snow College. For over three years Ephraim City Mayor, City Council and staff have worked conscientiously and tirelessly to bring this project to pass. We are grateful that Intermountain and its administration have confidence in our City and in the way Ephraim has developed its infrastructure abilities along with our pattern of robust growth. Mayor John Scott says: “When I first became Mayor, over three years ago, bringing a hospital to Ephraim City was one of my top priorities. I believe our residents and Snow College students deserve the very best health care available and I felt strongly that we should not have to travel elsewhere to receive health care services. Our City Manager, Shaun Kjar, city staff, City Council and I began to meet with Intermountain representatives in the fall of 2019.”
“At first, they were skeptical” said Mayor Scott, “but the idea began to take on a serious nature as we continued the conversation. Months went by and others came to meet with us”, says Scott. “We asked Snow College to write letters of endorsement for the idea of building a full-scale facility in Ephraim City.”
Intermountain representatives met with the Mayor and city staff to begin discussing land acquisition. Scott continues, “We rode around the city to discuss possible locations. Eventually, Intermountain selected the present site and began working with the Ephraim Crossing developers. In total this hospital campus will be about 35 acres. Mayor Scott emphasized that, “Right now this investment by Intermountain will be the largest rural healthcare investment, that we are aware of, in the State of Utah and I hope it will employ hundreds of people. This is no small matter, and I am grateful that the developers of Ephraim Crossing and Intermountain could reach a deal to bring about this magnificent opportunity.” Currently, Intermountain has not provided a timeline or detail of their future plans, but Ephraim City is encouraged by the progress marked by the purchase of this property.
